Deliciousness: Garden Berries of the Straw Variety

Otherwise known as...
STRAWBERRIES.

Just your regular garden strawberry.
Widely appreciated not only for its lovely red color but also its
and delicious smell and taste.
Considered a fruit both culinarily and botanically, which is nice.

Did you know it's actually a hybrid species?
First bred in France in about 1740.
A cross between Fragaria virginiana from North America (the irresistible flavor)
and Fragaria chiloensis from South America (the large size).

Technically: strawberries are an aggregate accessory fruit
Which basically just means that the fleshy part is derived from the receptacle that holds the ovaries (achenes), not the ovaries themselves.
Each seed on the outside is actually one of the ovaries of the flower,
with a seed inside it.

But enough about female reproductive parts.
Anyway.

Just go eat some (SOON) and enjoy.
